Darlene is survived by her husband of 33 years, David Metcalf; by her son, Keith Austin, and his wife Judy, of Ferndale, Wash.; and by her daughter, Kim Borden and her husband, Leon, of Camano Island, Wash.. She is also survived by her sister, Carol Ronken, of Stanwood, Wash.; and her brother, Alan Fure, of Issaquah, Wash.; as well as by her niece, Lisa Madigan and her husband, Jim Shasky; niece, Linda Madigan and her fiancee, Todd Campbell; nephew, Shawn Madigan; and niece, Susan Ronken, and also by Ramona Husby Snowden and her husband, Ed; and by her nephew, Gary Husby.

Darlene worked for many years in the office of the Snohomish County Prosecuting Attorney as a paralegal and staff manager, retiring in 1999. She was enjoyed, appreciated and loved by many friends and acquaintances and by her family. Darlene was known and applauded as a masterful cook and hostess.
Darlenes departure from us leaves a vast void, and she will be deeply missed by all of the people mentioned here by name specifically, and by friendship and acquaintanceship more generally, and most especially by the king of the household, Duffy, the Blue Persian cat.
A memorial gathering in honor and remembrance of Darlene will be arranged and announced later. Darlene led a good and full life. We hope you keep in your memories the things you learned from and remember about her in your ongoing lives.
