David Walter Huppert

David Walter Huppert passed away Nov. 1, 2006.
He was born Oct. 5, 1922, in Fort Atkinson, Wis., to parents Clifford G. and Doris C. Huppert.
On Sept. 1, 1943, he married his high school sweetheart, Alice E. Almquist, from Moline, Ill.
He graduated from Moline High School in 1940. During WWII he was assigned to the 12th Weather Squadron in the United States Air Force in Africa, Italy and France. After the war the couple made their home in Iowa, where he graduated from the University of Iowa with a BSME Degree. He belonged to the Sigma Gamma Espson Fraternity. The couple moved to California where he worked for Lockheed Aircraft Corporation where he was an Engineering Manager. He was an active member of the American Management Association.
Upon his retirement 27 years ago, the couple moved to Camano Island and were both active in the Camano Country Club. He served on the Water Board of the Camano Water Association, was active in the Stanwood/Camano Amateur Radio Club, American Radio Relay League and the Stanwood United Methodist Church. In his spare time he enjoyed cabinet/furniture making, gardening loved his Dahlias, photography, electric organ and reading.
His wife preceded him in death in 2002.
Survivors include his two daughters, Cherie (Werner) Bergman, of Stanwood, Wash. and Marie (Richard) Corral, of Chandler, Ariz.; two granddaughters, Lisa Maibaum and Deborah Bergman; and one great-granddaughter.
Burial was a private service with the family. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m., Nov. 11, 2006, at the Stanwood United Methodist Church.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to the Stanwood United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or to the Stanwood/Camano Amateur Radio Club Scholarship Fund.
