Frances Marie Cole

Frances Marie Cole, 70, went to be with her Lord on August 14th, 2016, with her family by her side in Seattle, WA. A memorial service and reception will be held at Arlington Assembly of God on August 20th at 2 p.m.

Fran was born on August 20th, 1945, in Conrad, Montana to Godfrey and Fern Torgerson. The family owned and operated a movie theater in Pendroy. She graduated from Pullman High School and Washington State University with a teaching degree.

She met Mike at a wedding where he was the photographer, and she was the maid of honor. They went on six dates, then she spent a year working for the Department of Defense in Japan as a teacher. Mike sent her a ring in the mail, and they were married three weeks after she returned in 1971.

Fran began working as an elementary teacher at Trafton school in the Arlington School District, where she went on to spend her entire career teaching almost every age level. Fran earned her pilot’s license along with Mike, and they enjoyed flying their small Cessna up and down the West Coast.

They were active members of Arlington Assembly of God for 18 years, then moved to City Church. Mike and Fran taught many marriage ministry classes in their home, and she was most happy when building up others to love the Lord Jesus Christ and to love each other.

She is survived by her husband Mike Cole of Arlington, WA, her son Ryan Cole of Spokane, WA, her daughter Torry Dechert of Irvine, CA along with spouse Kirk and her two granddaughters Madeline and Vivienne Dechert, her brother Gerald Torgerson and spouse Helen of Choteau, Montana and her brother Lloyd Torgerson and spouse Sharon of Spokane, WA. Fran was a beloved mother and grandmother to far more than her own grandchildren. Her legacy lives on in the lives of her students and the hundreds of couples she impacted through years of ministry small groups. She is greatly missed.
