George Thomas Sherry

George Buzz Sherry, 81, of Marysville, Wash., passed away peacefully Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, at his home in Marysville, Wash.
George was born June 1, 1926, in Seattle, Wash.
Beloved husband, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Sherry; sister, Carolyn Bowers; children, Jo Ann Newland, Tom and Maru Sherry, Patti Rabb, Mike and Judy Sherry and Kay and Bill Gassaway; grandchildren, Jay Borg, Jennifer and John Baker, Jena Sherry, Michael Sherry, David Rabb, Eric Sherry, Jason Sherry, Samantha Gassaway and Sabrina Gassaway; great-grandchildren, Hailee Dezell, Joseph Baker, Emma Baker and Jacob Baker.
He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Marvin and Doris Sherry; sister, Mary Lou McKinney; and son, Mark Sherry.
In the summer 1949, he met the love of his life, Martha. It was literally love at first sight. They were wed on June 23, 1950. They were married for 57 happy and joyful years. Together they raised six children and created many wonderful memories.
He retired from Boeing in 1964, and went on to become a trusted and respected General Contractor. He never retired from his General Contracting role. As the years passed, he went from builder, to building consultant of family and friends. His eyes would twinkle when giving advice.
Buzz loved simple things, like walking to get tea, having a bull session, visiting with friends, but more than anything he loved his family. Every member was precious and special to him. He always had a positive outlook, a warm smile and kind words to offer, no matter if they were returned. He was full of life, strong and gentle, loving, full of integrity and honesty. He was an example of how to act and how to treat others; the backbone of our family. His actions always spoke louder than his words. Knowing him was a privilege; being loved by him was a great honor that mere words cannot describe.
He will be missed by all, but most by the family he loved so much.
A celebration of his life was held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home, Marysville.
The family asks that memorial donations be sent to Shriners Childrens Hospital or The Seattle Childrens Hospital.
