Giebel ‘Babe’ Maurice Adrian

Maurice “Babe” Adrian Giebel, 63, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 in Arlington, WA. He was born to Maurice Angus and Christine Giebel August 12, 1947 in Arlington.

Babe grew up and spent his entire life living in Trafton, WA. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1965. After graduating he enlisted in the Navy Seabees and proudly served three tours in Vietnam. Soon after, Babe returned to Arlington and bought his first logging truck and started his life long career in the logging industry. From his days with Giebel Bros. Trucking to Pacific Logging and most recently Precision Forestry, his integrity and honesty endeared him and earned the respect of his many colleagues. He was a hard-working, “handshake” kind of guy that everyone was proud to work with. His working relationships often turned into personal friendships including those he made at Hoo-Hoo. If Babe was on a job, it was a job well done.

Babe loved his trips to Reno, the log show, Florence with his “Little Buddy”, Disneyland and most recently to the ranch in California. He was especially proud that he was a part of fulfilling Wendell’s wish to return to Alaska before he died. Babe looked forward each year to his fishing trip with the “Captain” and the boys and was looking forward to his return trip to Mexico with his entire family and friends. He had a passion for his old cars and especially his ‘32 Ford sedan. Babe was a generous, giving man who never met a stranger. He had a joke for every occasion or situation that might arise, whether it called for one or not!

Babe was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Christine; his brothers, George and Wendell; and his son, Jeremy.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 36 years, Bonnie; his daughters, who made him so very proud, Tracy (Shane), Melissa (Craig) and Kelsey (Jason); his adored grandchildren, Wyatt, Ella, Khloe; and his extended grandchildren, Rileigh, Taylor, Maddy, Henry and Harry. He will also be dearly missed by his siblings, Martin (Ann), Julie (John), Lois (Don), Aileen (Jerry), Rich (Carmilla), and Mark (Tonya); numerous nieces; and nephews; his step-mother, Rosie (Troy); and a list of relative and friends far to long to mention. You Know who you are, Babe loved you all.

Babe’s passing has left a trail of broken hearts, especially that of his constant companion and sidekick Wyatt. “We Love You Babe and will hold you close to our Hearts Forever.”

The family expresses a special thank you to Blair and the Arlington Fire Dept. for all you did.
