Helen Jean Roeth

Helen Jean (Lindstrom) Roeth concluded her earthly excursion in Marysville, Wash., on the morning of April 25, 2007.
Born and raised in Stanwood, Wash., on Sept. 27, 1921, Helen was the fifth of six children born to Manny and Mabel Lindstrom. She is the last of the original Stanwood Lindstroms.
In 1941 she married James Souviney. They had one daughter, Sandra to whom she was lovingly devoted, after the death of James in 1953. Helen became a seamstress, and then worked as a waitress at Ernie Steeles Restaurant in Seattle for several years. She was married in 1970 to the late Frank Roeth. Together Helen and Sandra opened a small grocery business called Beverly Park Market in Everett, 1982 1984, when Helen decided to retire.
Soft-spoken, gentle-spirited and determined Helen had a weak spot for cats, especially her and her sisters cat, Mittens that they shared. During the baseball season, she enjoyed watching or listening to Mariners baseball games at maximum volume. Helen was seldom seen without wearing a bracelet or a set of rings. A bit of a free spirit, she often enjoyed dancing at the Stanwood Grange during her younger years, as well as being involved in 4-H, and in latter years she belonged to the Ladies Trainmans Auxiliary. Among the most missed memories are the homemade chicken dinners on Sundays.
Helen is survived by her daughter, four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Her final resting place is to be in Stanwood. A Graveside Service was held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at Anderson Cemetery on Pioneer Hwy in Stanwood. Viewing was at Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel from 9 a.m. to 5: p.m. Saturday and Monday.
Chelsea Kelly has many loving memories of her great-grandmother.
