On Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, the Lord took J.C. Bryson, 86, of Darrington, Wash., home to join Minnie, his wife of 60 years.
He was born Dec. 7,
1920, to Frank H. and Lelia (Wilson) Bryson in the log cabin his father had built on the family farm in the Bennettville area north of Darrington.
J.C. married Minnie Cook in 1941, they began their married life in Darrington and he remained there the rest of his life except for a few years in Lyman, Lake Quinault and Forks, Wash.
J.C. and his brother Frank formed Bryson Bros. Logging Co. in 1951. He was a logger and a farmer all of his life. He enjoyed taking his horses out on trail rides in the mountains, hunting especially elk hunting in the Tieton River area and in Idaho, fishing and camping trips with family and friends.
J.C. and Minnie were instrumental in securing the Darrington Horse Owners Association property and in building the arena where the rodeo is still being held. He was also a member of American Legion Post 76, Arlington, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his wife Minnie, sister Alma Ross and son-in-law Cliff Geithman Jr.
He is survived by brother Frank (Cordelia) Bryson Jr.; sister Eloise (Rev.Max) Kell; sister-in law Dolores (Carl) Heidy; two daughters Beverly Geithman and Donna (Jerry) Booker; eight grandchildren, Jody, Billy, Lelia, (Chance), Jim, Cindy (Ken), Jeff, LaNita (Dick), Neva; 17 great-grandchildren and seven and three-quarters great-great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Howard Bryson for being such a special and attentive friend to J.C.
He was a loving and hard working father and will be greatly missed by all of his family and long-time friends.
Funeral service were held Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at 1 p.m. at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, Darrington, a graveside service followed at Darrington Cemetery.
