Katherine Elizabeth Whetstone

Katherine Elizabeth Whetstone, our beloved sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend, went to be with her Lord on Aug. 31, 2007.
Katherine was born June 17, 1925, to Mark and Agnes Whetstone. She grew up with her sisters Gertrude (Trudy) and Helen in Hedgesville, Mont., and graduated from Shawmut High School in 1944. Kay moved to Seattle and worked at Western Union before entering the convent in Bellingham, Wash., in 1950 as Sister Mary Patrick.
Faith was an important part of Katherines life. After leaving the convent for health reasons, Kay continued faithful service to others by caring for numerous families, including her sisters children, working with Catholic Community Services and in her final years with the Arlington Food Bank.
She celebrated life with her love for ballroom dancing, piano, cooking for family, taking long walks and a good game of cards.
She is survived by her sister, Trudy Kalan, brothers-in-law Bill Kalan and Myron Thomas, numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mark and Agnes, brother Donald and sister Helen Thomas who now welcome her home.
Funeral services were held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Arlington on Thursday, Sept. 6, rosary at noon followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m.
The family wishes to extend our gratitude to the staff at Cascade Valley Senior Living for the love and care they showed to Kay and the home they made for her.
