Marvin (Gene) Jones

Gene passed away on Jan. 9, 2009. He was born Aug. 9, 1928 in Darrington, Wash. to Rich and Kate Jones. Gene lived in Mount Vernon from 1956 to 1992 when he moved to Selah. Gene served in the Army during the Korean War. He worked for Shell Oil in Anacortes from 1956 to 1984.

Gene’s wife Dora passed away in 1992. He is survived by his daughter Connie Steiner and son Rick Jones. He is further survived by four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, brother Harold, and sister JoAnn.

Gene loved hunting, building his own homes, and working tirelessly on them.

A Reception will be held Friday, January 16, 2009, 10:30 a.m. until noon at the Hawthorne Reception Room.

A private family graveside will be held at Hawthorne Memorial Park.

Arrangements are under the care of Hawthorne Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 1825 E College Way, Mount Vernon.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Gene’s name to the Skagit Valley Kidney Center, PO Box 1375, Mount Vernon, WA 98273.
