Mary Janet Gore

Mary Janet Gore, passed away Friday, Jan. 28, 2007, at Richmond Beach Rehabilitation Center, peacefully after four months in the Center suffering from brain cancer.
She was born Aug. 24, 1930, in Monroe, Wash., the first child of John and Mary Moskeland.
She graduated from Marysville High School as salutatorian of her class in 1948, after many academic and athletic accomplishments. She attended Everett Community College, then graduated from the University of Washington where she was a member of the Navy ROTC. She received her commission after graduation and served as a lieutenant during the Korean War.
After her honorable discharge from the Navy, she worked as a flight attendant for United Airlines, then returned to the University of Washington to complete her masters degree program. She graduated in 1957.
Mary Janet met her future husband in the Navy, James M. Gore, a Navy pilot. They were married in 1957. He died in 1976.
She is survived by two sons, James K. Gore, of Seattle, Wash., and Jay (Diane) Gore, of Boston, Mass.; along with one grandson, Jimmy. Surviving relatives include, Margaret Bland, of Marysville, JoAnn (Jim) Mulligan, of Marysville, and John B. (Lillian) Moskeland, of Shreveport, La. She also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
In 1976, after the death of her husband, she moved to Lake Forest Park, Wash., from California, where her husband had been an airline pilot. She operated a Cardin private elementary school from her home for many years.
She was a member of the Episcopalian Church of the Redeemer in Kenmore, Wash., and did volunteer work at the Butterfly.
She will be greatly missed by many family and friends, members of her Birthday Club and long time friends from the Navy. Her strong religious spirit with enduring cancer treatment for the past three years has been inspiring to all who knew her.
A memorial service at Church of the Redeemer is pending.
