Mary (King) Kidd Foell died Oct. 28, in Bend, Ore., after a prolonged illness.
Mary was born to Lawrence and Dana King in 1928, Wenatchee, Wash. She and her sister Jean grew up in the orchards and went to school in Entiat. She thrived, with a love for music and dancing as well as gardening and outdoor activities. Her education continued at the University of Washington, where she graduated with an accounting degree in 1949. On the same day as her commencement, she married Donald Kidd after he returned from WWII. It was the beginning of a Husky tradition.
They started their family in Seattle, three sons and one daughter. In 1959, they moved to Stanwood, Wash., and purchased an International Harvester dealership in Everett called Sound Tractor Company. They ran the company, side-by-side, for 25 years. During that time they were active in their community and also had opportunity to travel internationally. When they retired, they moved to the Phoenix, Ariz., area for year round sunshine and golf.
Mary was widowed in 1992 and did some traveling with her lady friends. In 1994, she was remarried to Walter Foell, from Michigan. They traveled around the U.S. in their motor home and enjoyed their grandchildren for several years. She spent her last four years in Bend.
She is survived by two of her sons and a daughter, John and Wendy Kidd, with one son, in Colville, Wash.; Bill and Colleen Kidd, with three children, in Stanwood, Wash.; and Dana and Mark Hagenbaugh, in Bend, Ore.
She was a marvelous, strong woman. Her life was full of wonderful experiences and the love of many. Those who knew her will have countless fond memories. She will be dearly missed.
An open house, to celebrate Marys life, will be held at the farm on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2 – 4 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the David L. Kidd Scholarship fund, 360-629-4046 or the Hospice House of Bend, 541-383-3910.
