Robert Jay Stevens

On Nov. 24, 2006, a much loved, kind, and generous man has lost his two-year battle with prostate cancer and passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his beloved family.
On Oct. 28, 1922, he was born in Mitchell, South Dakota to James and Cora (Janes) Stevens. In November 1942 he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was assigned to the Army Airways Communication Systems. He spent two years in Europe, London, and later France. After being discharged from the military, he worked for Pacific Northwest Bell for 37 years, with 30 of those years in management.
In August 1943, Robert married Sylvia Clark and in 2006 they celebrated their 63rd anniversary. They have three children, daughters, Susan Wells and Sheryl Stevens, of Marysville, and son, Robert Jr., of Fort Worth, Texas. They have six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Robert is survived by his two sisters, Elizabeth Thurlow, of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Margaret Toben of Mitchell, S.D.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James, of Chicago, Ill.
A celebration of Bobs life was held at 2 p.m., Dec, 2, 2006, at the Marysville Free Methodist Church, 6715 Grove Street. Memorials may be made to Providence Hospice of Snohomish County, 2731 Wetmore Ave., Everett, or to the Marysville Free Methodist Church.
