William Steven Dangel

William Steven Dangel, 80, passed away peacefully in his Camano Island, Wash., home surrounded by his wife and five of his seven children; one special daughter-in-law, who was instrumental in his care and a great comfort in his final days (thank you Shelly), and two grandchildren on Jan. 22, 2007
He was born in Tulare, S.D., on Feb. 19, 1926. Bill married his sweetie Virginia Feist on June 16, 1947, in Bowdle, S.D.
Bill was active with the Knights of Columbus as a Third Level Deputy Grand Knight.
Bill joined the U.S. Army in September of 1944 and served in active duty in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant June of 1946.
He was preceded in death by his father, John E. Dangel; mother, Regina Dangel; brother, John J. Dangel, brother Fredrick Dangel; and sister, Rosemary Kundert.
He is survived by his wife, of 59 years, Virginia Dangel; and by his children, Steven A. Dangel (Sheena), John J. Dangel (Shelly), William S. Dangel (Cindy), Mary Hillier (Terry), Linda Rodriguez, Patricia Price (Jeremy), James F. Dangel (Pam); 24 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; as well as many loving friends.
Bill and his wife, Virginia have enjoyed serving their community for the past 18 years, actively assisting in the workings of the Stanwood/Camano Food Bank.

The family would like to thank the Skagit Valley Hospice Group for all their wonderful support though his difficult journey.
A Rosary Service was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, and a Mass of Christian Burial followed at 11 a.m. at St. Cecilias Catholic Church, Stanwood, Wash.
