Continuing to make your community newspapers better

Did you notice the change in last weeks issue of The Marysville Globe and The Arlington Times? It wasnt a big change so you might have missed it.

Did you notice the change in last weeks issue of The Marysville Globe and The Arlington Times? It wasnt a big change so you might have missed it.
Last week, The Times and The Globe switched to a more narrow format, changing from the old 14-inch width to the new 12.5-inch width. The new format brings The Globe and The Times in line with the other publications owned by Sound Publishing (which recently purchased The Globe and The Times), provides our advertisers with a more standardized format and gives our readers a product thats a little bit easier to handle.
The print editions of The Globe and The Times are not the only things we are working on improving. Were also looking at ways to improve our Web sites www.arlingtontimes.com and www.marysvilleglobe.com. Weve already made a number of improvements and to continue that effort we plan on making more changes. One of the next things well be doing is updating the Web sites more frequently. We want to become your weekly newspaper thats updated on an (almost) daily basis. Well be adding stories to the Web sites several times each week to provide our readers information in a more timely manner. Not all the stories will be posted on the Web sites so youll still want to pick up a print edition of the papers that will include updated versions of the Web stories, as well as stories that arent posted on the Web during the week. So instead of checking out the Web sites just once a week, youll want to check them out several times to catch up on the latest news.
Were also continuing our efforts to get community members involved through our Reader Advisory Boards. The boards are made up of community members who meet monthly to discuss how we can continue to improve the newspapers and Web sites. Its our goal that the Reader Advisory Boards reflect the diversity of our communities. Everyone is welcome to attend and offer their suggestions. The next RAB meeting for The Marysville Globe begins at 4 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 20 at the office of The Marysville Globe, 8213-A State Ave. The next meeting of The Arlington Times RAB will be at 4 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 27, at the Arlington Times office, 233 N. Olympic Ave. If you would like to participate or want more information call Scott Frank at The Globe, 360-659-1300, or Sarah Arney at The Times, 360-435-5757. Both Reader Advisory Boards have small groups of dedicated community members that we would like to expand and youre invited.
