Thousands of area children were able to enjoy themselves last weekend due to the efforts, generosity and support of the organizers, sponsors and volunteers who put on the annual Easter events in Arlington and Marysville.
Jennings Memorial Park in Marysville hosted more than 1,000 kids at the citys annual Easter egg hunt which offered a variety of events and activities to ensure an enjoyable day for the entire family. Hosted by the citys Parks and Recreation Department, the annual event received support from the Marysville Noon Rotary, Garlic Jims Pizza, Hollywood Video, Grandview Village and others. Many volunteers were on hand to ensure the event went smoothly and all the children had a great time.
The Marysville Easter egg hunt, which has been going on for about 15 years, keeps getting bigger and better thanks to the efforts of a lot of people, businesses and organizations who understand the importance of community sponsored, family oriented activities. Events like the Easter egg hunt would not happen, or wouldnt be as successful, with out their generosity and commitment. They all deserve our thanks and appreciation.
The city of Arlington also has an annual Easter egg hunt that has grown so popular, and so large, that it had to be moved from Terrace Park this year to the grassy field near the Stillaguamish Athletic Club.
The Easter egg hunts there were actually two, a morning and afternoon event boasted a combined total of nearly 10,000 plastic eggs which were quickly gathered up by the happy participants.
Like the Marysville event, the Arlington Easter egg hunt depends heavily on volunteers and members of the Arlington Fire Department and Support 46 were on hand to help set up and run the events.
All those involved in these community events from the children and families who attended, to the city staff, volunteers and sponsors who put them on deserve our thanks and appreciation. It is their commitment to our kids, our families and our communities which make our towns such wonderful places to call home.
