Christmas is the season where our Christian community celebrates the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ some 2,000 years ago.
We were all invited to the Marysville Summit on Education held on March 29 at Marysville Getchell High. Change is the reason we should have attended. The school district has a new superintendent. The county has a new County Exec. Out with the old and in with the new. Newcomers’ decisions will certainly affect our lives, so we share an interest in how they manage the challenges of their jobs.
The Arlington Boys & Girls Club has outgrown its facility at the Arlington Airport. When it was built with donated funds, services and materials 25 years ago, who would have thought we would see such a tremendous growth in our community? It seriously needs to be expanded.
He said, “Have a great day,” but I heard, “Have a gray day.” Why this reversal of mood? Why did I turn a happy wish into a downer? The simple reason is that I’m feeling SADness, or Seasonal Affective Disorder. And from what I’ve gathered the SAD syndrome has gone viral hereabouts.
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is the law that ensures schools provide services to children with disabilities. In Washington State, IDEA and state special education law governs how local districts and other public agencies provide early intervention, special education and related services to students from birth through to age 21. Special Education is defined as: “specially designed instruction, at no cost to parents, to meet the unique needs of a child with a disability.”
Communication between school staff and parents/guardians creates a team approach to help our children succeed.
