Praise to the city of Marysville for coming up with a plan to fund a new police department and jail facility for the cost of a cup of coffee to the average resident of the city.

More praise for the city in that if that passes Aug. 7, we could get entirely new civic campus – something the entire community could be proud of – just by selling off buildings and land the city already owns – again at no or low cost to residents. The campus would allow one-stop shopping, instead of us having to go all over the city for different departments.

Praise to those who voted in the election. Participation is vital to our country.

Praise to Arlington for starting a lacrosse program for kids also in Marysville and Lakewood.

Praise to all involved in closing down an alleged drug house, giving a Shoultes neighborhood peace after at least a decade.

Praise to The Grove Church in Marysville for providing free fun to even more neighborhoods this summer.

Praise to Marysville police for their new Coffee with a Cup program. It’s a way for people to see cops aren’t the bad guys.

Praise to the Silvana Fair for providing old-fashioned fun for families.

Praise that another group is bringing a Viking Fest back to Arlington. We missed it last year.

Praise to Arlington and the Marysville Fire District for getting their own rescue teams so we can feel safe on our waters.

Praise to County Councilman Nate Nehring for being willing to look at the old Growth Management Act to see if some things can be changed to encourage affordable housing.

Raze to the state for taking away funds from Marysville’s Municipal Court. The financial health of indigents is broad. They should be held accountable and pay what they can.

Praise to Marysville police for purchasing a FARO device. It will save police, and motorists, too, so much time when it comes to investigating crashes. And its use at crime scenes will also save time and be so accurate in gathering information. It is well-worth the investment.

Raze that someone would steal a church’s revival tent.

Praise that someone came to their rescue.

Praise that the Tulalip Tribes are changing the overpass at 116th so less traffic will be tied up on surrounding side streets.

Praise to Marysville police for practicing crisis negotiations with the SWAT team so when events happen they are a well-oiled machine.

Praise to director Chris Nation and the rest of the school board for demanding the financial facts be reported before making changes in the Marysville district’s secondary schools.

Praise to the Tulalip Tribes for putting in needed roads infrastructure before traffic problems develop when its new casino is built.

Praise to Lakewood for sponsoring a free soccer camp for kids. Too bad other communities can’t do the same thing.

Praise to all the bands that participated in the first Kornstalk musical festival in Arlington to bring in contributions for that community’s food bank. Let’s hope it continues.

Praise to Katie Tormohlen and others who worked on the Relay for Life to raise money for cancer research. Love the new location at Asbery Field and that all the other surrounding communities are involved. Let’s just get more folks involved next year.

Praise to Arlington for another successful Fly-In.

Praise to Jeff Newell of Arlington for driving a tractor to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, to raise money and awareness in the battle against diabetes.

Raze to the tariff’s on newsprint, which is killing an already-hurting newspaper industry and its loyal advertisers and ad inserts.

Praise to Marysville police officer David Negron for his patriotism, which sparked the nation.

Praise to the Marysville School District for its Stuff the Bus campaign to help needy kids get school supplies.

Praise to the Arlington Fire Station whose video helped capture suspects in two killings.

Praise to the New family for their environmental work on their tree farm in Arlington.

Raze to the Arlington man charged with DUI after getting in an accident with a state patrolman.

Praise to Poochapalooza for putting on another great event for dogs.
