18 local wrestlers going to state – 4 as champions

The local area will be sending 18 wrestlers, including three girls and four champions, to state at the Tacoma Dome this weekend, including the brother-sister champions senior Cayden and freshman Alivia White of M-P.

Cayden won the 182-pound classification with an 8-7 victory. Alivia won the 190-weight class for the girls.

Austin Davis also was a champion for M-P at 120 pounds, winning his final 6-5.

In the 2A tourney, Keegan Bach won the 285-pound title with a pin in 1 minute, 50 seconds in the finale.

At the 3A Region 1 Tourney at Bonney Lake last weekend, M-P placed sixth, MG eighth and Arlington ninth.

Arlington: At 106, Eric Vogel won 6-4 to finish third; At 113, Dorian Tollenaar lost 7-6 to place second; Casten Tollenaar lost 7-2 to place fourth at 120 pounds; and at 138, Trevor Latta fell 6-4 to place fourth.

M-P: at 132 pounds, Iakov Bondar was pinned to place fourth; at 145, Jesus Cabadas lost 9-3 to place second; at 160, Christopher Bonner won 2-1 to finish third; and at 170, Mauro Bejar was pinned to finish fourth.

MG: At 220 pounds Cheron Smith finished third by beating teammate Erick Duenes by injury default.

At the 2A Region 1 tourney at White River, Lakewood placed ninth. Brenden McClellen was pinned to finish second at 152 pounds, and will be going to state along with Bach.

In the girls Region 1 tourney at Sedro-Woolley, M-P was 16th, Arlington 17th, Lakewood 22nd and MG 34th.

At 115 pounds, Torrie Blackwood placed second. Punchy O’Hara also qualified.

At 130 pounds, Tailer Cochran of Arlington place second.
