Led by their divers at the Wesco 3A Districts in Snohomish over the weekend, M-P was ninth with 88 points and M-P 10th with 87.

The combined Marysville teams qualified four for state.

In diving, junior Andrew Kallio of M-P was second, freshman Eric Davydenko of MG third and freshman Eduard Naumchik of M-P fifth. They all qualified for state this weekend in Federal Way. Freshman Nate Huh-Orrantia was eighth and freshman Isaish Gibbs of MG 11th. Also qualifiying for state was Ian Meetsma of M-P, who was fourth in the 100-yard freestyle.

MG was fifth in the 400 free relay. Kameron Wilkes, Lincoln Wheeler, Andrew Christensen and Hunter Brown were on that team.

Two M-P relay teams made the finals, placing eighth. Jayden Boyle, Luke Pusateri, Jose Anderson and Meetsma were eighth in the 200 free and the same four made the 200 medley relay finals but were disqualified, but also finished eighth. Brown of MG was ninth in the 100 butterfly.

Meetsma was 10th in the 50 freestyle.

Wilkes, Gibbs, Aiden Barnett and Wheeler were 10th in the 200 free relay.

Christensen was 13th in the 200 free.

Coach Meredith Jenks said the team peaked at the right time, with swimmers getting their best times of the year in 31 of 34 races.

“We are very proud of all the work Ian Meetsma has put in over the years (both on our team and as a year-round swimmer), and it paid off for him beautifully when he made top four in the 100 free,” she said.

She’s also excited about the divers, led by Kallio, who will be seeded third going into state this weekend in Federal Way.

And “Our upcoming freshmen are amazing,” she said, adding having four go to districts and two to state “is a little mind-boggling.”
