ARLINGTON — Arlington High School sophomore Sevi Bielser has received the honor of being named the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association State Athlete of the Week for Dec. 29, 2013, through Jan. 4, 2014.

The WIAA honors 12 of Washington’s high-performing athletes each week.

A spokesperson for the WIAA cited how Bielser hit 12 three-pointers in three games, to lead the AHS Eagles to a 3-0 record in Wesco contests.

Bielser had 10 three-pointers against Lake Stevens and Snohomish, and scored 17 and 15 points, respectively.

Bielser and several of the other girls on her team have been playing together for years, which has made them a very strong team.

Bielser began playing in early elementary school, with the Arlington Boys & Girls Club, before becoming part of the area select teams Shock and A.W.E.

Bielser is involved in school leadership, and maintains high grades, in addition to her notable performance as a basketball player.
