ARLINGTON — Arlington High School’s Terry Dawn was named a WIAAA/Seattle Times State Athlete of the Week for Jan. 1-7 of this year.

Dawn is a junior and participates in both football and basketball at AHS.

“Terry has grown in confidence as an athlete and as a student during this past year,” AHS Athletic Director Tom Roys said. “It is exciting to see him honored in this way.”

Roys and AHS Assistant Principal Voni Walker acknowledged Dawn during his English class taught by Nick Brown, who is also Dawn’s basketball coach. Fellow classmates applauded during the announcement.

Dawn remains uncertain about which college he will attend, but he explained that he’d like to continue playing sports during his college career, and he hopes to receive an athletic scholarship.

Dawn plans to apply to the California Polytechnic State University, the University of California, Davis, and the University of Washington. In the meantime, he’s focusing on pre-calculus, engineering and chemistry, with the intent of majoring in engineering when he heads off to college.
