Arlington boys win 2 over weekend

ARLINGTON

Boys basketball

The Eagles scored almost half of their total points in the first quarter on their way to a 60-50 win at Lynnwood Saturday.

Arlington jumped out to a 24-6 lead as Ethan Martin hit five 3-pointers. The home team came back to make it 31-20 at the break, and the teams played even from there.

Joseph Schmidt led the visitors with 24 points, and Martin added 21. Friday, Schmidt scored 25 to lead the Eagles to a 61-50 win at Archbishop Murphy. Ethan Martin tallied 14 and Will Abram 10.

Girls wrestling

Tuesday, the Eagles beat Lake Stevens 60-15.

Boys basketball

M-P beat Cedarcrest 73-62 but MG fell at Edmonds-Woodway Friday. The Chargers took an 18-7 lead in the first, but the home team outscored the visitors 22-8 in the last quarter to win 60-57. MG only tallied 20 points in the second half. Josiah Koellmer led MG with 17 and Malakhi Knight had 16.

Swimming

Tuesday, Monroe beat M-P 106-66 and MG 109-70.

In the district dive qualifier Saturday at Kamiak, Andrew Kallio of M-P placed third with 375.85 points. The winner scored 554.35. Tommie Eduard Naumchik was eighth.

Stanwood beat M-P 123-42 and MG 128-28 Thursday. M-P’s Ian Meetsma won the 50-yard freestyle in 24.4 seconds. Meetsma also won the 500 free in 5:19.91.

In the 100 free, Hunter Brown of MG was the winner in 58.43 seconds.

The Cougars beat Anacortes Tuesday 60-41.
