ARLINGTON – Abby Schwark hit the go-ahead bucket with 30 seconds remaining as the Eagles outlasted Edmonds-Woodway 61-60 in a back-and-forth battle between Wesco 3A title contenders Thursday night.
Arlington (9-3, 7-0 Wesco 3A) trailed by five going into the final period, but held E-W’s high-powered offense to just eight points the rest of the way. Eagles coach Joe Marsh credited the defensive success to a switch to man defense late.
“We just had to lock them down and do a great job of switching which had to happen,” Marsh said.
Sierra Scheppele had a game-high 17 points, knocking down 4 of 5 three-pointers, and Keira Marsh added 16.
“One of the best things that we did tonight was spreading it around,” Marsh said as nine different players scored.
Other scorers: Allison DeBerry 8, Josie Stupey and Abby Schwark 5 each, Mollie Janousek and Jordan Bartlow 3 each, and Hailey Hiatt and Abbey Hassing 2 each.
Arlington won at Kamiak 43-30 Thursday night.
