The Arlington boys and girls harriers had two meets in 72 hours and fared quite well. Thursday, Sept. 28, they competed at River Meadows against Shorecrest, Kamiak and Everett and two days later as part of the Mt. Baker Invitational.
Junior Lady Eagle Colleen McElroy finished 33rd in the JV race Saturday, Sept. 30, at Mt. Baker in a time of 23:03.71.
Freshman Amye Ellsworth came in 45th in a time of 23:23.68.
In varsity competition, senior Kristina Bosket placed 33rd overall in a time of 19:35.14.
Junior Sarah Rayner came in just ahead of freshman teammate Safa Pinkens. Rayner and Pinkens finished 84th and 85th, respectively, in 20:56.40 and 20:57.40.
Freshman Jimmy Dix finished first for the Cougars in the freshman category and 17th overall in a time of 18:10.99.
Sophomore Brad Magness finished 85th overall in the JV race in a time of 19:32.52.
Junior Paul Simbeck was the first varsity Cougar to cross the line and finished 51st overall in a time of 16:50.71.
Junior Luke Passalacqua came in 65th in 17:02.99.
Tuesday, Sept. 26, the team split their success as the girls ran to a first place finish ahead of Kamiak, Shorecrest and Everett.
The Lady Eagles finished with 42 points and were led by the first-place overall finish of Bosket in 20:16.
Rayner finished sixth overall in 21:43, Pinkens one second behind at 21:44, junior Katelin Nicely 11th in 23:07 and classmate Alyssa Keihn 17th in 23:47.
The boys finished fourth with 81 points and were led by the eight-place finish of Passalacqua in 17:21.
Simbeck was right behind him in 17:25, junior Charlie Ewell 19th in 18:22, senior Jeremy Goheen 22nd in 18:38 and sophomore next in 18:47.
