Arlington stuns MG 3-2 in softball upset

The Eagles stunned MG with a 3-2 win in eight innings Tuesday.

Arlington scored in the first and fifth innings, but the Chargers tied it at 2-2 in the top of the seventh. But the Eagles scored in the bottom of the eighth inning for the upset. MG fell to 13-4, while the Eagles are 5-9.

Lizzie Durfee starred on the mound for Arlington, holding the usually heavy-hitting Chargers to three hits. Durfee struck out 12 and didn’t walk any.

Shannon Patton and Brionna Palm scored the only runs for the Chargers.

At the plate for Arlington, Tia Langley led the way going 2-for-3 with two doubles and 2 runs batted in. Also hitting doubles were Megan Lawrence, Brooklyn LaMie and Taylor Zodrow.


Jackson won at Arlington Wednesday 7-0. Grace Bynum won five games at No. 2 singles and Abby Weber-Isabel McVey took five games at No. 3 doubles.



M-P pounded winless Stanwood 19-4 Wednesday in five innings, scoring 10 runs in the first inning and cruising from there.

Alyssa Edge went 4-4 at the plate with two doubles. She also scored two runs and knocked in two. Lauren Lewis went 4-5, scored three times, hit a double and had 3 RBI. Catcher Sydney Zachry matched those 3 RBI in going 2-3 with a triple. Kelsey Edge was the winning pitcher.

M-P beat Everett Wednesday 355 to 368.

For the Tommies, Natalia Zieroth was the medalist with a 77. Liz Turral shot an 89, Ivy Enberg a 90 and Kaden Otto a 99.

Meanwhile, MG fell to Arlington 393 to 413.

For Arlington, Grace Metcalf was the medalist with an 83. Mailinh Vu shot a 98, Lilly Rasmussen a 101 and Emily Peterson a 121.

For MG, Nicole Phengmuang had 99, Emily Reynolds 102, Natalie Furness 104 and Amie Konteh 108.


MG beat Mariner at home 5-2 Wednesday.

The Chargers lost the first two singles matches, but won all of the rest.

At No. 3 singles, Karry You won 6-4, 7-5 and Areslie Marmolejo won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 4. In doubles: Autumn Perkins-Tristan Fetro won 4-6, 6-2, 6-3; Meghan Zimmerman-Sofia Trujillo were victorious 6-3, 6-2; and Jayden Sheldon-Thompson/Gabby Murdock won 6-2, 6-2.

In a non-conference matchup, Cascade blanked M-P 7-0.
