George Wiederkehr, a 2007 graduate of Lakewood High School, holds up a 40-pound Chinook salmon he caught off Nootka Island, British Columbia on July 26. This was the first salmon Wiederkehr ever caught, and is the largest fish of the year to date for the city of Tahsis, where the photo was taken. Guidance and consultation for rigging gear and bringing up the catch was provided by Jerry Big Fish Fure of Stanwood.
