Getting wins in six different divisions, the Darrington Loggers made strong individual statements in their District 1A/2B wrestling matches.
If not for an injury that kept 145 pound favorite Joe Dolph from competing, the Loggers might have swept the team honors as well.
As expected Johnny Loughnan cleaned up at 119, pinning both of his opponents on his way to a title. Scott Regelbrugge won the heavyweight division for the Loggers, who got a third-place finish from Moe Hyde as well in that category. Conner Rounds and Mathias Metzger repeated that feat at the 215 pound division, after Metzger bumped up a weight division. Though they never faced each other, Rounds won the division and will be the No. 1 seed coming out of the district.
Paden Newberry won at 160 pounds for the Loggers, adding to an already successful year on the mat that has seen him ranked in the top six statewide for his weight class.
