After having their season opener against Meadowdale High School pushed back one day due to a snowstorm the Arlington Eagles fell 73-48 Friday, Dec. 1, on the road.
The non-league loss dropped the Eagles to 0-1 on the 2006-07 campaign.
First-year coach Nick Brown said his squad stuck with the Mavericks until the final eight minutes of play, but their tank ran dry in the end.
It was a good gauge to see where we are, Brown said of his team.
We were all pretty upset that we couldnt last longer. I have to tip my hat to Meadowdale though they are a tough team and will be one of the top teams to come out of the Wesco South.
Brown praised the play of sophomore Cole Carpenter, who led the team with 12 points.
Seniors Andrew Disotell and Kevin Gray each contributed 10 points in the losing effort.
The night started off on the right foot as the junior varsity Eagles prevailed over the Mavericks 51-49.
Arlington returns to the road Saturday, Dec. 9 to face the Mt. Vernon Bulldogs.
JV tips off at 5:40 p.m. and the varsity follows at 7:30 p.m.
