ARLINGTON — The Lady Eagles proved their dominance during a non-league game against Mariner High School on Wednesday, Jan. 2, when they topped the Marauders 60-35 at home.

The Eagles took an early lead with strong passes, quick rebounds and tough defense, almost tripling the scoring of the Marauders in the first half and going into the locker room with a 30-11 lead.

The Marauders took up a stronger offense in the third quarter with both teams managing to score 18 points each, but it wasn’t enough to rally a comeback and the fourth quarter saw only six points for Mariner.

Victory for the Eagles is no surprise as the Arlington girls basketball team is ranked No. 5 in the state, and after the game against Mariner they maintained an undefeated record, while Mariner still has not won a game so far this season.

Senior Lindsay Brown scored 16 points in the game, while senior Taylor Graham scored 11 including one 3-pointer. Freshman Jayla Russ scored eight points, senior Winter Brown scored six points, senior Ronnie Ladines scored five points, senior Marissa Swegle scored four points, as did sophomore Jessica Ludwig and freshman Emma Janousek, and Sarafina Balderas scored two points.

Brown is a top scorer in the league with a 13.3 points average per game. Krista Showalter is another top scorer with 11 points average per game.

The team faced Kamiak High School on Friday, Jan. 4, and Cascade High School on Monday, Jan. 7, although the results of those two games were not available as of press time.

The Lady Eagles head now for an away game against Edmonds-Woodway High School on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at 7:15 p.m. The Warriors have a 4-2 league record  and a 7-4 record overall, and recently defeated the Snohomish Panthers 51-38 in an away game on Wednesday, Jan. 2. The Panthers are currently second in the Wesco North 4A division, behind Arlington.

The Eagles’ record is now 5-10 in league and 10-0 overall.
