MARYSVILLE — Lakewood’s track and field team did not disappoint in its first appearance at the Cascade/Kingco Sub-District games May 14.

“We did pretty well,” Lakewood track and field head coach Jeff Sowards said. “We had a ‘B+’ day but not perfect.”

The boys placed first out of the seven schools, and the girls fourth.

Lakewood sophomore Josh Dickey placed first in the 100 meters with a time of 10.98 seconds, along with breaking Lakewood’s previous school record of 11.02.

Senior Andrew Stich placed first in both hurdle events with impressive times of 14.64 in the 110-meter hurdles and 39.94 in the 300-meter hurdles.

“Both of those were solid performances,” Sowards said.

The Cougars also set personal records in the throws.

“I thought some of the throws were pretty remarkable,” Sowards said.

Junior Alec Burbee placed first in the discus, throwing for 133-09.

For the girls discus, senior Larissa Brock placed first with a throw of 100-01.

The Lady Cougars also had success with sophomore Britney Albro finishing first in the 800 meters, clocking in at 2:26.70.

“They should improve upon their events,” Sowards said. “We might be a bit behind in the girls meets.”

Lakewood will resume its sub-district game on May 16.”
