Local wrestling teams dominate matches

Arlington and Marysville-Pilchuck trounced their opponents in wrestling Thursday night, but Marysville Getchell had a tougher time against Shorewood, winning 45-36.

Winning by pins for the Chargers were Cody Mitchell in 5 minutes, 8 seconds at 120 pounds, Tim Doroshuk in 1:11 at 126 pounds, Jesus Cabada at 145 pounds and Caleb Blonk in 3:17. Trey Padgett won by decision 10-3 at 138 pounds. Winning by forfeit were: Omar Salcedo, Chris Bonner and Erick Duenes.

The Eagles easily beat Mariner 54-18 and Woodinville 60-13.

Winning by pin against Mariner were Eagles Gavin Howell in 2:19 at 152 pounds, Kristian Fairbanks in 4:38 at 170, Rylan Polkinghorn in 1:38 at 182, Daniel Heiss in 3:07 at 106, Casten Tollenaar in 5:46 at 113, and Gunner Olson in just 49 seconds at 138 pounds.

Winning by decision were Levi Wiseman at 195 pounds 13-9, Dorian Tollenaar 9-3 at 120, Cole Phillips 7-2 at 126 and Todd Smith won an amazing match 2-1 at 132 pounds. Dawson Reed won by forfeit.

Arlington was even more dominating against Woodinville. Forfeits were a major reason as Wiseman, Polkinghorn, Reed, Phillips, Smith and Olson all won that way.

The four wins all were by first-round pins, led by Fairbanks, who won in 13 seconds, followed by Howell, whose pin took 54 seconds. Casten and Dorian Tollenaar both pinned their opponents in 1:23.

M-P routed both Mountlake Terrace, 72-6, and Kamiak, 49-14.

Against MLT, Mauro Bejar, Naweli and Jeff Rouillier all by won forfeit.

The other matches were all pins in the first two rounds.

At 195 pounds, Jake Elwood’s pin came in just 27 seconds, and at 182 Cayden White’s was in 38 seconds. It took 53 seconds for Tanner Lauzon to win at 126 pounds. Others who won with first-round pins were: At 113, Mikey Bejar in 1:42; at 132, Austin Davis in 1:56; and at 152, Jonathon Goeden won in 1:45.

Getting second-round pins were: at 160, Ahmad Humoud in 2:42; at 138, Corey Fregoso in 2:53; and at 145, Isaiah Galindo in 3:10.

Against Kamiak, White won by pin in 1:08, at 285 pounds Roullier’s pin came in 1:43. Davis’s pin came at 1:27, Goeden’s in came at 1:59 and at 170 Mauro Bejar won by pin. Lauzon’s pin at 126 came at the 3:41 mark.

Galindo won by forfeit, but the others all won by decision.

At 138 pounds, Fregoso won an exciting match 5-4; and at 220 pounds Naweli won 14-3.

Boys swimming

Stanwood beat M-P 115-55 and MG 117-49 Thursday.

In diving, Daniel Kirkwood of M-P won with 222.6 points, easily his best showing of the year.

In the 100-yard freestyle, Ian Meetsma of M-P won again with a time of almost 54.6 seconds. Meetsma was second in the 50 free in 24.77 seconds. The winning time was 24.66. Jesse Nahinu of MG was third.

In diving, M-P’s Leif Anderson was second with 207.65 and Andrew Kallio third with 198.05.

In the 100 butterfly, Hunter Brown was second in 1:15.2.

In the 100 free, Kameron Wilkes of MG placed second and Seth Little third.

In the 400 free relay, MG was second with Collin Black, Brown, Andrew Christensen and Wilkes.

M-P was third in the 200 medley relay with Anderson, Luke Pusateri, Meetsma and Michael Butts.

Others placing third were:

•Jayden Boyle of M-P in the 200 free.

•Pusateri in the 200 individual medley.

•In the 500 free, MG’s Xander Johnson.

•In the 100 backstroke, Wilkes.

•In the 100 breaststroke, Boyle.

•And M-P in the 200 free relay with Anderson, Sean Lespade, Boyle and Meetsma.
