MARYSVILLE – Despite controlling the ball for most of the first half, Marysville-Pilchuck’s boys soccer team only managed to score one goal.

That certainly changed in the second half as the home team tallied five more to blank Bellingham 6-0 Saturday at Quil Ceda Stadium.

Senior forward Randy Galvan got isolated 1-on-1, dribbled the ball down the left side of the field then kicked the ball passed a diving goalie into the opposite side of the goal to make it 1-0 at intermission.

Galvan scored another goal in the second half. Seniors midfielder Leonardo Jarmillo and forward Kyle Matson also scored, as did juniors midfielder Edgar Martinez and defender Douglas Cruz-Young. Assisting on goals were Galvan, Cruz-Young, sophomore midfielders Alex Guzman and Luis Galvin.

In girls softball Friday, Marysville Getchell ripped Mount Vernon 15-3.

LAKEWOOD

The Cougars girls softball team beat Coupeville 18-5 and Oak Harbor 15-1 Saturday.

Meanwhile, the boys soccer team fell to Bremerton 4-1.

In girls tennis Friday, Squalicum blanked Lakewood 7-0.
