M-P, MG swimmers win 4 events in meet against Cascade (slide show)

MARYSVILLE – The combined Marysville-Pilchuck and Marysville Getchell swim teams won four events in a home meet against Cascade Sept. 20.

In the 200 individual medley, Jennica Harper of M-P won in a time of 2 minutes, 55 seconds. She won by an impressive 22 seconds.

Lexi Kilbourn of MG won the diving with a score of 221.5. Teammate Sophie Alt was a distant second in 151.3.

In the 100 butterfly, Katelyn Leary of M-P took first with a time of 1:12. And Alexis Bennett of M-P won the long 500 freestyle with a clocking of 6:47.87. Second place was 42 seconds behind her.

M-P’s 200 medley relay team had a strong show, placing second only six seconds behind Cascade. On the team that finished in 2:32.63 were Leary, Harper, Bennett and Kelsey Edge.

Others placing second were: Isabella Bennett of MG in the 100 backstroke. She was also second in the 100 free. And Maddy Grandbois was second in the 100 butterfly.

Getting third-place finishes were: Leary in the 50 free; Emily Anderson of M-P in the 200 free; and Harper in the 100 back.

In the team scoring, Cascade beat M-P 130-53 and MG 131-45.

Tennis

At Totem Middle School, Marysville-Pilchuck fell to Oak Harbor 6-1 Sept. 20.

The No. 1 M-P doubles team of Connor Peterson-Carson Asper had the only win 6-1, 6-1. A number of others won eight games: Parker Devereux, Treven Southard, Aaron Kalab, Kellen Ridley-Dawson Coe and Trae Tingelstad-Chris Hackmann.

At Snohomish, the home team blanked Marysville Getchell 7-0. The only close match Luke Olason-Bob Green at No. 2 doubles. They won 6-3, lost 3-6 then lost a 12-point tiebreaker.

Volleyball

Lynnwood blanked MG 3-0 with the scores being 25-11, 25-20 and 25-13 Sept. 20.

Mikail Montez had three kills and two blocks for MG, Peyton Schmidt had 12 digs, and Sydney Norton added 16 assists.

In a matchup between winless teams, M-P beat Mountlake Terrace 25-20, 25-18 and 26-24.

Carly Scallan recorded eight kills, and Jenna Olson dug 27 balls for M-P. Ayana Sabbas added eight assists and eight digs

Arlington beat Archbishop Murphy 3-0.

In 2A, Lakewood lost to Squalicum 25-12, 25-18 and 25-23.

Tehanna Goodall had 11 kills and 14 digs. Kimmy Epperson added 16 assists, and Kristinn Bostrom had 12 digs for the Cougars.

Girls soccer

At Arlington, Archbishop Murphy shut out the home team 2-0 Sept. 20.

The Wildcats are 5-1-1, 4-0-1 Wesco 3A, while Arlington is 2-4-1, 1-3-1.

At MG, the Chargers won their first game of the year beating Lynnwood 3-1 Sept. 20.

The Chargers received goals from Sydney Huestis, Maddison Hagglund and Kortney Crane, who also tallied an assist. Goalie Kaitlyn Knocke allowed the one score.

Also, M-P fell to Mountlake Terrace 1-0, and Lakewood was shut out 5-0 by Squalicum.

Cross country

At Valley View Middle School, MG was third for the girls and fourth for the boys in a meet Sept. 20
