MARYSVILLE Games that are not played under the Friday night lights can be a little different from what a typical football fan might expect.
The Darrington Logger volleyball team has been having a prolific season this year. Led by the all-around excellence of setter Mandy Powell, the group has been disposing of Northwest 2B League foes one after another. This past week they took down Shoreline Christian 3-1 and Mount Vernon Christian 3-0.
EVERETT Anyone hoping Arlington football would repeat the results of their last appearance at Everett Memorial Stadium had to be sorely disappointed.
First year coach Cari Britt has faced a huge task this season in rebuilding the Arlington volleyball program. The team has not enjoyed much success in recent years and Britt was brought in to lead them into a new era. The early results have been predictable and Arlington lost another tough match to Monroe on Oct. 19.
It was a blowout from the beginning as the Highland Christian Knights won 54-28 over the Lopez Lobos on Oct. 20. Highland came out strong right from the opening whistle and put Lopez in a deep hole early.
