The good news for the Eagles is that they are nearly guaranteed a playoff spot heading into their season finale against their geographical neighbors the M-P Tomahawks.
The Lady Eagles got in the win column and then were swept in their two Wesco North matches Oct. 17-19.
ARLINGTON A non-conference loss at Mariner High School March 13 and a 8-0 drubbing by Edmonds-Woodway March 15 have the Eagles baseball team off to a rocky start.
Last season the Arlington boys soccer team struggled through a losing season. This year, renewed optimism coupled with the return of several key players who missed last season gives the group plenty with which to work.
ARLINGTON The Mountlake Terrace Hawks got on base a few times and one runner even threatened to score from third in the second inning. Maybe it was the menacing looks from Eagles catcher Sheena Twitchell whenever she had the ball or the 16 strikeouts from pitcher Christina Rayner, but the Arlington fastpitch team rendered the Hawks runless for a 3-0 win March 14.
Its been an up and down year for Coach Jeff Smiths Single A Legion bunch. Several close losses combined with all the powerful teams in the Northwest have made wins tough to come by.
The Stilly Rapids, needing only a win in game two over Snohomish to clinch a birth in districts, certainly had plenty to play for in their July 7 clash. After Kyle Ayers led the team to victory in game one, all momentum sided with the Rapids. Unfortunately game two would not go nearly as smoothly.
After his imposing performance against Snohomish Kyle Ayers seemed none too impressed with himself. Ayers, who struck out 10 batters in a complete game shutout, lacked for words to describe the performance.
