ARLINGTON The Arlington boys basketball team made only one field goal in the fourth period but made 15 of their 18 free throws in the final eight minutes to defeat Sedro-Woolley 66-57 at Arlington High School Feb. 24 and put an end to the Cubs season.
LAKEWOOD What began as a low intensity soccer match, escalated into a defensive battle and produced a magnificent game-winning goal. The March 29 clash between the Granite Falls Tigers and Lakewood Cougars went Lakewoods way, 2-0.
LAKEWOOD In a defensive staring match, the Lakewood baseball team held South Whidbey to a three-run tie from the fifth inning until the 10th, when the Cougars finally blinked and Falcon Lucas Yale ran in the first of two game-ending runs March 28 to hand Lakewood a 5-3 loss.

TROY, N.Y. The American Football Coaches Association has released its 2007 Division III All-America Team and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute student-athlete Tim Acker has been named to the prestigious squad. Selected as a defensive back, he is one of only two sophomores on the 25-person team.
The Lakewood boys basketball team got their first win of the young season in thrilling fashion Dec. 14 with a league win over the Sultan Turks 78-70. It took bonus basketball to decide the game after everything was tied 64-64 after 32 minutes.
The Arlington Eagle boys basketball team played extremely well for 16 minutes against the powerhouse Snohomish Panther team in their meeting Dec. 14.
Basketball Tourney in Lake Stevens
The Arlington girls basketball team struggled to find their footing against an imposing Oak Harbor team during their clash Dec. 12. The Eagles outside shooting touch deserted them and allowed Oak Harbor to run away with an easy 58-23 victory.
ARLINGTON In a hotly contested Wesco North match Dec. 11, the Arlington Eagles wrestling team showed enough to win 42-26 over the visiting Oak Harbor Wildcats.
ARLINGTON Standout cross country and track runner Paul Simbeck of Arlington High School organized a 5k run to raise money and supplies for the Arlington Food Bank. Simbecks effort ended up garnering $390 and 50 pounds of canned food. The race took place Saturday, Dec. 8, at Arlington High School.
