All three Stilly Valley all-star teams practiced near Arlington’s Quake Field July 13, and got together for a group photo. From left, the junior softball all-stars, the junior baseball all-stars and the major softball all-stars. The girls began state tournament play July 18, with both the juniors and majors splitting their first two games. The major girls were in La Center, defeating the Northeast/Northwest Seattle All-Stars in their July 18 first-round game 5-4. They played the Bellevue Thunderbirds the next day, this time on the wrong side of a one-run margin, losing 8-7. The majors girls were scheduled to play District 10’s Chinook all-stars in a loser-out game July 20 after the Times went to press. The girls would need to win three games to make it to the championship, where they would have to win twice to advance to the regional tournament in Vancouver. The junior boys baseball all-stars begin their tournament July 24 in Yakima against the champions from District 12.
