Track meet a success despite downpour

The Lakewood track squad got several impressive individual performances in their meet against Sultan on March 22.

On the boys side Devon Smith (Soph) won the 100 meter dash in 12.07 and the 400 meter dash in 54.27, which is a new personal record. He also ran the third leg of the winning 4 x 100 relay.
Nick Borisov was a quadruple winner. Borisov captured the 110m high hurdles with a time of 17.82 seconds and the 300m hurdles in 44.32. He also won the pole vault with a final vault of 96, as well as running the lead leg in the boys 4 x 100m relay.
For the girls, Mareyoko Butler won the 400m dash in 66.50 seconds and the long jump with a leap of 147.
Teammate Michelle Howe won the 100m hurdles in 49.56 as well as the 300 hurdles in 49.56.
In the distance races, Sarah Dunn grabbed top honors in both the 1,600m and 3,200m runs with times of 5:36.13 and 12:42.60 respectively.
Lakewood and Sultan both fought through the grisly weather that threatened to cancel the meet. Pools of water collected around the track in divots and made the conditions poor.
