Tracksters excel at district meets

Local schools crowned a number of district champions at track meets Wednesday.

In the Wesco 3A North meet at Oak Harbor, Arlington, freshman Aiden Emerson won the 1600 meters with teammate Blake Landry third. Eagle Joshua Gutierrez won the high jump at 6-foot-2, with teammate Jaden Roskelley second with the same mark. Roskelley won the long jump 21 feet, 9 inches.

For the Arlington girls, Julia Parra won the discus with a toss of 138 feet, 5 inches. Eagle Jersey Heiss won the javelin with her throw of 109 feet, 10 inches. The 4 by 200 relay team also won in 1:49.29 with Sarah French, Keira Marsh, Reise Walker and Kelsey Mutton exchanging the baton. Also, Anne Louise Fernandez was third in the 1600 in 5:23.26.

For the M-P girls, Corianne Cross won the pole vault at 10 feet, 6 inches, while Summer Sanden was third in that event at 9-6 and third in the long jump at 16.5.25.

For the MG girls, the 4 by 200 relay team of Kiarra Green, Tyshone Cole, Beni Luboya and Madeline Grandbois was second in 1:49.67, while Mikhail Montez was third in the discus at 118-6 and Kate Roberts third in the javelin at 99-6.

In the boys prelims: Arlington: Kristian Fairbanks, 100, third; Cade Younger, 200, third; Younger, 400, second; Parker Duskin, 110 hurdles, second; Duskin, 300 hurdles, first, Jaden Roskelley, second; MG: Thomas McCormick, 400, first; M-P: Jeffrey Richner, 800, first; Trae Tingelstad, 100 hurdles, third.

In the girls prelims: MG: Green, second, 100; Sophie Alt, third, 300 hurdles; Arlington: Heiss, third, 100; Mutton, third, 400; Mutton, 800, second; Reagan Beaton, first, 100 hurdles, Walker, third; Walker, first, 300 hurdles, Marsh, second; M-P: Jaylynn LeMasters, 200, second.

In the 2A District track meet finals Wednesday, Lakewood’s top finishers for the boys were: Keegan Bach second in the shot put at 48 feet, 6.5 inches and Kaedyn Bustand and Zachary Anderson tied for third in the pole vault at 12 feet.

In the preliminaries, Machai Harris won the 100 and Spencer Fleming was second in the 400.

For the girls, Alexis Allen was second in the long jump at 16-6. In the prelims, Jasmine Graham was third in the 100.
