Imagine that a young orthopedic doctor joins the Army and serves his country as a flight surgeon with the 101st. Airborne. Imagine that this young doctor was one of the first doctors to serve in Iraq during the Persian Gulf War, and served his country by working behind enemy lines to treat wounded soldiers. Imagine that for his service, this young doctor earned a Bronze Star and two air medals for Bravery and Heroism with the 101st Airborne. Upon his return home, he becomes the Chief of Orthopedics in a military hospital.

Imagine that this doctor comes to Cascade Valley Hospital bringing the same commitment to quality care in which he has been previously involved. His efforts to improve care are rebuffed. He refuses to go along to get along and takes his practice to another hospital that is more consistent with his standards. Not only does the second hospital welcome him but his peers elect him Chief of the Department of Surgery.
