Christmas songs, soloists highlight MG, M-P Choir Concert

MARYSVILLE – A concert wouldn’t be a concert in December without some Christmas songs.

The Marysville-Pilchuck High School choir, directed by Gavin Knowles, performed a “Charlie Brown Christmas” as part of a Choir Concert at Marysville Getchell High School Tuesday night.

The medley included “Christmas Time is Here” and, of course, the Peanuts theme song, “Linus and Lucy.”

It also performed “Away in a Manger” acapella, “Oh Christmas Tree” and “Hark The Herald.”

But the highlight of the Tomahawks performance was probably Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida.”

The host MG choir didn’t perform the traditional Christmas songs, but it did feature six soloists.

Neftaly Galvan-Ramos certainly stood out, along with Rebecca Whittlesey. The others were Isaiah Allen, Karissa Snyder, Chloe Paige and Hailey Neumann.

MG, under the direction of T.J. Seiber, performed “Once Upon a December” from “Anastasia” and also “New Year’s Day,” among others.

“It’s awesome to see so many people support choir,” Seiber told the crowd of a few hundred that packed the commons in the communications building.
