Going under the bridge

The city of Marysville is continuing to work on the Ebey Waterfront Trail. This week, crews started creating a path under the Highway 529 bridge. The path will make it so people can park at the waterfront park and access the trail.

The trail was built on the east side of the bridge, but permitting took longer for the west side.

Just recently the city put up a fence north of the bridge because people were crossing dangerous Highway 529 to access the trail from the parking lot.

When this new portion is finished, that would no longer be necessary.

The top photo, shot by Globe-Times photographer Douglas Buell, is a shot from the east, looking under the bridge to the west. The other shot is of the path leading from the parking lot to under the bridge No word yet if any trolls or Billy Goat Gruff were sited.
