ARLINGTON – Legendary rock star Rick Springfield delighted fans with the classic “Jessie’s Girl” and other old favorites at the Stillaguamish Festival of the River Sunday evening.
The just-as-classic video of him doing the song years ago played behind him on a big screen to add to the nostalgia of the performance.
Another highlight was on the song “Don’t Talk to Strangers” Springfield, who said he’s around 69, tossed a microphone into the audience. He teased some of the participants about being a little pitchy as they took turns on the mike, but it was all in good fun. He asked the crowd to chant the phrase over and over within the rhythm of the song, and they did just that louder and louder.
The annual event featured its usual fun: food, powwow, dancing, logging show, arts and crafts, kids’ fun zone and more.
