Kids return wallet

ARLINGTON – A man down on his luck saw it change when two preteens returned a wallet he had lost with $500 in it.

David Gray, 12, and Case Baker, 11, found the wallet in a gas station parking lot.

It was just one more bad thing for Scott Ames, who is going through a divorce and whose house is up for sale.

The money wasn’t the only important thing in his wallet. There was a photo of his late mother in there, along with his driver’s license, and insurance and credit cards. To reward the kids, Ames gave them $100.

MG at nationals

MARYSVILLE – Nine Marysville Getchell students competed in the recent Future Business Leaders of America 2019 National Conference in San Antonio, Texas.

The nine included: Ashlyn White, who competed in computer games and simulation programming; Taryn Neal, introduction to parliamentary procedures; Amanda Warren, business communications; Sterling Dawson, help desk; and the team of Gabe Coe, Joseph Gabriel Ecolango, Katelyn Millar, RaeAnn Davis and Evan Fetro competed in parliamentary procedures.

M-P team 3rd

MARYSVILLE – Two Marysville-Pilchuck students placed third out of 29 teams in a state automotive competition recently, each winning a $5,000 scholarship to Universal Technical Institute.

The students are junior Kyle Stoker and Aidan Walker. They also won some tools for the school’s automotive program.

The competition included a 75-question written test, precision measurements, brakes, electrical wiring and diagnosis, tire and wheel familiarity, Scan Tool data retrieval, tool identification and service writing.
