Man found at Arlington house fire with gunshot wound hospitalized

ARLINGTON –Arlington firefighters dispatched to a suspicious house fire on Monday afternoon arrived to find a man with a gunshot wound.

Arlington fire crews at 3:30 p.m. responded to the fire that burned two out-buildings in the 9300 block of 164th Street NE.

The fire initially didn’t appear to reach the house, city spokeswoman Kristin Banfield said. However, as firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the flames, they saw more fires burning inside the home.

Firefighters found a man at the house with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office reported. He was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett with life-threatening injuries.

No firefighters were injured in the incident.

Snohomish County District #21 (Arlington Rural), Snohomish County District #22 (Getchell), and Marysville Fire District assisted on the call.

No word on the cause of the fire at this time.

The Snohomish County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause and amount of loss.
