MARYSVILLE – As the co-host of NBC’s National Dog Show Presented by Purina since 2002, David Frei has been seen in homes each Thanksgiving Day by the largest TV audience for any dog show.

New York Magazine once called Frei “probably the most famous human in the world of canines.”

Marysville Dog Owners Group is thrilled to welcome “America’s Dog Guy” as our special guest at this year’s Poochapalooza on Saturday, July 7 at Asbery Field.

“We couldn’t be happier to be welcoming David,” M-DOG President Doug Buell said. “He loved the reasons behind our event to showcase pooches at their best and brightest, and he will also be adding his masterful emcee – and a touch of class – to some of our contests and races at The Pooch.”

Frei said, “I’m really looking forward to being a part of this event, and happy to emcee some portions of it. It will be fun for the participants and the audiences.”

Frei has not only been the longtime voice and analyst of the National Dog Show with co-host John O’Hurley, he was also the longtime co-host of USA Network’s Westiminster Kennel Club Dog Show and now added his duties as co-host of the Beverly Hills Dog Show that debuted on Easter in 2017.

The breeder-owner-handler and author of the book, “Angel On A Leash,” will be signing copies at the event, with book sale proceeds going to M-DOG. The book that is named after his charity shares his view of the world of therapy dogs and his life in dogs. It’s his second book, with a third in progress.

He has also been a judge in the world of purebred dogs for more than 40 year, officiating shows in the U.S., Canada, Australia, Denmark and China.

A native of Eugene, Ore., he lived in Seattle for 20 year years, then moved to New York City in 2002, working for the Westminster Kennel Club before moving to Cannon Beach, Ore. in 2016. His wife, Cherilyn, a certified Catholic chaplain, is the Director of Mission Integration and Spiritual Care at Providence Seaside Hospital.
