Allen top local golfer; all 3 girls teams win; 2 baseball teams win

MARYSVILLE – Everett easily won a Wesco 3A North golf match at Cedarcrest Golf Course Tuesday with a 145 team score.

Arlington was fourth with 171, Marysville-Pilchuck fifth at 172 and Marysville Getchell seventh with 211. Matt Allen led M-P with a par 35, one stroke off from being the medalist. Jeff Reynolds shot a 43, Connor Peterson a 44 and Gabe Sanabria a 50. Nate Metcalf led Arlington with a 41, followed by Trent Nobach with a 42, and Alex Coghill/Riley Morris/Caden Smith all shot 44. For MG, Emryk Flitz shot a 46, Nathan Bickle 52, Chase McGowne 55 and Nick Scharbach 57.

BASEBALL

Arlington and MG both won away games Tuesday.

Arlington dominated Snohomish 11-0, and MG also blanked Oak Harbor 2-0.

For the Eagles, Cameron Smith pitched a complete seven-inning game, striking out 14 and giving up just one hit.

Cole Cramer led Arlington at the plate going 2-5 with 2 runs batted in. Dylan Corpron also had 2 RBI.

Sean Brown improved to 3-0 on the year in blanking Oak Harbor in his complete game 5-hitter.

For the Chargers, Josiah Koellmer went 2-4 with a double and Kody Galde 2-3, also with a double.

SOFTBALL

All three local Wesco teams won Tuesday.

MG shutout Shorewood 11-0, but the game was much closer than that. The Chargers led 1-0, but then exploded for 10 runs in the final two innings.

Brionna Palm struck out nine and held the home team to four hits. At the plate, she went 3-5 with a double. Maile Pingree also went 3-5 and Emily Petermeyer 2-5, including a double.

Host Arlington picked up an 8-2 win over Edmonds-Woodway. Taylor Zodrow led the way with a home run, and Kailyn Thai added a double. Pitcher Lizzie Durfree evened her record at 3-3.

M-P picked up a home win over Shorecrest 11-4. Phelps hit a triple, a homer, scored twice and had 2 RBI to lead the Tommies. Becker also hit a home run and had 3 RBI. Lilly Fischer hit two doubles in two official trips to the plate, also knocking in a run and scoring three times.

SOCCER

Lakewood dominated Nooksack Valley 6-0 in a home match Tuesday in Northwest 2A action.

Jared Wolfson led the way with two goals and two assists. Tanner Rahberger also starred with a goal and two assists.

Hong Yi-Wu, Ethan Sidick and Allen Sepulveda-Castaneda added a goal apiece.

Getting assists were Enzo Sirigu and Joseph McLean.

Goalie Mamudou Fofana contributed six saves.

In Wesco games, M-P blanked Shorecrest 3-0 and Arlington fell to Edmonds-Woodway 3-1.

TENNIS

MG won a home match against Lynnwood 5-2 Tuesday.

The Chargers won the top two singles matches with Sofia Trujillo winning 6-1, 6-1 and Meghan Zimmerman winning 6-1, 6-2. At No. 4 singles, Areseli Marmolejo blanked her opponent in two sets.

In No. 2 doubles, Karey You-Alivia Doll won 6-0, 6-3 and at No. 3 Brennan Dunston-Sydney Huestis won 1-6, 6-2, (10-5).

At Totem Middle School, M-P fell to Monroe 4-3 with the visitors winning all of the singles matches and the Tommies winning the doubles matches.

At No. 1 doubles, Dana Bichel-Kristina Gret won 6-3, 6-1, at No. 2 Irina Gret-Joslynn Scharpp won 6-4, 4-6, (12-10) and at No. 3 Maddy Baxter-Zinead Morales won 6-1, 6-0.

Arlington lost its match to Meadowdale 7-0.

GIRLS GOLF

Malia Schroeder, a freshman at Lakewood High School, was named an Athlete of the Week by the WIAA.

In the first Northwest Conference League match of her career, Schroeder not only shot a three over par for nine holes, but made her first hole-in-one on the par 3 136-yard hole No. 3 at Semiahmoo Golf Course with a nine iron. Schroeder was also a medalist for the seven-team match with her 39.
