Arlington girls win; Marysville wins 7 swim events; M-P girls and Lakewood boys lose

ARLINGTON

Girls basketball

Arlington’s youth movement came to the forefront in the their 58-46 win over Everett Tuesday.

Sophomore Josie Stupey scored 16 and freshman Keira Marsh 11 to lead the Eagles to victory.

Junior Sierra Scheppele added 8, junior Allison DeBerry and sophomore Abbey Hassing had 7 each, sophomore Hailey Hiatt scored 4, senior Mollie Janousek 3 and sophomore Jordan Bartlow 2.

MARYSVILLE

Boys swimming

Marysville Getchell fell to Oak Harbor 104-67 and Marysville-Pilchuck lost to that same team 111-63 Tuesday at M-P’s pool.

Despite the scoring, the Marysville squads won seven events. They just lacked the depth to compete in the team standings.

Winners for the local teams included:

200 freestyle—Nicholas Carlson (MG) 2 minutes, 15.02 seconds.

Diving—Andrew Kallio (M-P) 234.1 points.

100 freestyle—Ian Meetsma (M-P) 52.84 seconds

500 freestyle—Jesse Nahinu (MG) 6:13.95

100 backstroke—Meetsma (M-P) 1:01.45

100 breaststroke—Leif Anderson (M-P) 1:12.13

400 freestyle relay—MG (Nahinu, Justin Orellana, Andrew Christensen, Hunter Brown) 4:33.22.

Girls basketball

M-P fell to Snohomish 45-16 at home Tuesday.

Miriah Summers led the Tomahawks with 6, Alissa Edge 4 and with 2 apiece were Georgia Bradley, MacKenzie Konsor and Madyson Baxter.

LAKEWOOD

Boys basketball

Anacortes had a surprisingly easy time in beating Lakewood Tuesday 57-45.

Alex Jensen tallied 16 and Jared Taylor 13 for the Cougars, who dropped to 11-4, 6-2 in the 2A Northwest Conference.

Jackson Schultz added 6, and Shae Dixon and Kaiden Harrison added 5 each.

Lakewood had its five-game winning streak snapped, while Anacortes won its fifth straight and is now 9-6, 7-1 in the NWC.
