ARLINGTON — Among those making merry in downtown Arlington on Dec. 7 were members of the Arlington-Smokey Point Chamber of Commerce, who capitalized on the crowds drawn to Olympic Avenue by the city’s “Hometown Holidays” celebrations that day, by setting up a vendor tent in the Arlington City Hall plaza for the return of the Chamber’s annual Old-Fashioned Bake Sale.
ARLINGTON — The Co-op Supply drew an estimated 600 visitors for this year’s “Handmade Holiday,” which was scheduled to coincide with the “Hometown Holidays” in downtown Arlington on Dec. 7.
ARLINGTON — Hubb’s Pizza was bustling with at least 40 birthday party guests on the already busy afternoon of Dec. 7, but the occasion wasn’t just a chance for siblings Landon and Payton Countryman to have fun and receive gifts, since the roughly 25 presents that they got actually went to those who needed them more.
SMOKEY POINT — The Arlington-Smokey Point Chamber of Commerce installed its new Board of Directors during its winter holiday luncheon on Dec. 10, which included a mix of familiar faces and newcomers to the Board.
ARLINGTON — The Arlington Community Food Bank benefitted from a larger-than-expected holiday donation from the Stillaguamish Tribe of Indians this year, which presented $100,000 each to not only the Arlington Community Food Bank, but also the Stanwood/Camano Food Bank and Northwest Harvest on Dec. 7.
Although the freezing temperatures that have already arrived could be coupled with precipitation over the weekend, the city of Arlington began planning for winter snow and ice when the fall had barely started.

ARLINGTON — Arlington Youth Cheer started the month of December with a burst of seasonally spirited giving, by buying slightly more than $2,000 worth of food, toys, clothing and blankets for the Arlington Community Food Bank.
SMOKEY POINT — Jake’s House Prayer & Worship Center, located in Suite 105 at 18824 Smokey Point Blvd., is looking to restart its on-again, off-again food bank program on Friday, Dec. 13, from 12:30-2:30 p.m., and continue it every Friday at the same time, through the winter holidays and beyond.
ARLINGTON — Although Dec. 7 marks the anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, the Stillaguamish Valley Pioneer Hall and Museum take time during the day to honor the service of all American military members as part of their annual “Military Day.”
ARLINGTON — For more than two decades, the Arlington Fire Department has been delighting local children, and helping the Arlington Community Food Bank stock its shelves for the holidays, through its annual “Santa Run” food drive, and from Dec. 6-15, Arlington firefighters and community volunteers will again be escorting Santa Claus on a festively decorated fire truck through several of the town’s neighborhoods during the evenings.
