The Snohomish County Affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) announces the startup of a NAMI Connections support group — this is a bi-weekly recovery support group for people living with a mental illness.

More than 30 area teens descended on the Arlington Library for the second in a four-month series of programs designed to give them a taste of something new. “Chopped: A Library Foodie Competition” made its debut in September of this year, with 12 participants and another dozen people serving as spectators, and on Oct. 20 the program’s second session maintained at least as many audience members while more than doubling the number of teens who took part in cooking up some surprisingly elaborate dishes with relatively simple ingredients.

ARLINGTON — On Oct. 20 at approximately 5 a.m., Arlington fire crews were dispatched to a structure fire in the 10000 block of 200th Street NE.
On arrival, fire crews found a 1,000-square-foot shop with heavy fire showing. Additional units from Snohomish County Fire Protection District 22 of Getchell, Arlington Rural Fire District 21, Silvana Fire District 19 and the Marysville Fire District also responded to the fire.
The Arlington Times and The Marysville Globe brought home a trio of statewide awards from the recent Washington Newspaper Publishers Association’s Better Newspaper Contest.
